our story
The Bungalow story began long ago as the answer to the running Hayes family joke: “When we win the lottery we don’t play… maybe we’ll open a coffee shop!” The joke slowly began to turn into a reality in September of 2024 when the family purchased a small house in Oakwood, Georgia and decided to turn it into the coffee house of their (her) dreams! The trio realized that something essential was missing from their community—a welcoming local place to gather, enjoy great coffee, and feel right at home.
The Bungalow got its name from its history. Originally built in 1950 as a residential home, the little house experienced many changes over the years, including a chapter as a doctor’s office. Eventually, it found its way into their loving arms. From the beginning, the goal was clear: to revive its former charm and restore its rightful name—a bungalow once more!
Now, years later, that is exactly what they have created! Keeping the look and comfort of a home while serving coffee, teas, and other treats and providing a place of community for the Oakwood area. The goal is, and will continue to be, community. We also just happen to have really good coffee too!
